ROCK PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2016
Red Horse Beer Muziklaban Rock Photographer Of The Year FAQs
So you want to be the next Red Horse Beer Muziklaban Rock Reporter? Here’s some info + FAQ’s!
How do I join?
Post your best 5 music photos, local or foreign taken in the Philippines in the year 2016 on your instagram accounts.
All entries should be posted ONLY during the submission date which is December 30, 2016 to January 31, 2017.
Describe the photo, follow and tag @redhorsebeer, @rosarioko and use the hashtag #RHBRockPhoto2016 (There should be no other hashtag)
What kind of photos should I post?
Any music photograph: Local or Foreign. Musicians or Audience. Taken in the Philippines in 2016.
Can I just change the caption of my old posts taken this year
No. Re editing of old posts will not be considered. You have to repost new content of 2016 photos DURING the contest duration which is December 30, 2016 to January 31, 2017.
Can we see a sample entry?
Why cant I see my photos in the #RHBRockPhoto2016 hashtag timeline?
Think about your caption before you publish. Sometimes re editing captions create broken links resulting in your images not showing up. You can also try connecting your instagram account to your facebook account so instagram doesn’t see it as a spam account. Check your previous posts, if you have been using a lot of popular hashtags this may have caused your account to not show up in the feed.
Worst case, make a new account or tag us directly in the photograph so it can show up on our tagged photos.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by February 3rd
After reviewing the entries, the judges will narrow down the entries to a select number of finalists. Finalists might be interviewed or may be requested to submit high res versions of their images for inspection.
Can I submit more than 5 entries?
You may, but when it becomes a tight race between you and another photographer, we will only look at your 5 latest posts using the hashtag #RHBRockPhoto2016 versus his or her 5 latest posts.
How will my posts be judged?
The criteria for judging is as follows:
Who are the judges?
Nina Sandejas, Juno Oebanda, Kelley Mangahas, Patrick Pulumbarit and Jules Lim.
What if I live far?
Winner must shoulder all his expenses to and from the events.
Will getting my friends to like my posts help my chances?
The number of likes on your post has absolutely nothing to do with the contest. It’s always great to have support from your friends via views/comments, but when it comes right down to it, your photo is the only one meant to impress the judges.
What do we get if we win?
You will win a trophy, PhP10,000 cash and a one on one masterclass with Nina Sandejas courtesy of Rosarioko.com, All Access Photography Pass to Muziklaban Finals and PULP Summer Slam, 20 Cases of Red Horse Beer, PhP8,000 worth of Gift Certificates from Dickies, Two Pairs of Macbeth Shoes, RHB Merchandise (Cap, Shirt, Jacket and Stickers)
Do I need a fancy, expensive camera for this?
You will need to have a professional camera to be able to join, it doesn’t have to be the most expensive, as long as you can take quality photographs with whatever equipment you have then by all means, join!
Is it a disadvantage that I don’t have a photography portfolio online?
It may or may not help. Initially we will be looking at the entries with the hashtag, but when it comes to choosing our shortlisted candidates we may look at your online portfolio. It can help, but it’s not a requirement.
Will someone edit my photos for me?
Nina Sandejas will be your photo editor for the year and she will guide you through the expectations and requirements on how to shoot for a big brand like Red Horse Beer, but we expect that you know the basics of photography and editing.
Which band will we get to tour with?
As part of the prize you will receive an assignment from Nina Sandejas to go with one of the trips of the Red Horse Bands to document them.
Will I own the copyright to my photos?
Of course! We will just ask you to allow us to feature your images on our website and our social media pages to show how great you are.
Do you get to party during the shows?
Sometimes, but remember you’re working but as long as you can deliver… then…
