The Red Horse Beer endorsers Lovi Poe, Francis Brew Reyes, Marc Abaya of KJWAN, Kevin Roy and Brian Velasco of Razorback went on a radio tour last Tuesday to promote the on going SEARCH for the next Muziklaban finalists this year, why each of them are drinking Red Horse Beer and why you should, too.

But before that, I want to focus first on Lovi Poe. It’s quite rare to have another girl on tour with all the other Red Horse Beer musicians. We rarely get to see her  due to her busy schedule, taping for shows, especially the daily show “Legacy”. Now she is an addition to the roster of the San Miguel brewery elite group of women selected to endorse the brand.

If you’ve followed San Miguel campaigns in the past, they have featured women in their commercials which made being a part of it a hallmark of status in the country. I’m sure you’re familiar with Ina Raymundo, Cindy Kurleto, Rachelle Lobangco and Cristina Garcia, among others who have graced the screen with memorable campaigns for San Miguel Brewery. Joey Mead endorsed Red Horse in 2005 with Rudy Hatfield and in 2010 commercial Isabelle Daza (daughter of 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz) with Manny Pacquiao. To keep the tradition of the San Miguel family by making Lovi Poe an official Red Horse Beer endorser in the latest commercial with Ely Buendia.

I’d like to look at it like how cinema treats the legendary “Bond girls” whose inclusion in James Bond movies has been part of the history of the silverscreen, as this is part of the history of the best beer brand in the country and was the first to recognize the beauty of the Filipina in campaigns which has been time and again recognized in the world.

In the spirit of tradition, Lovi Poe’s heritage isn’t one to be overlooked. Her father, Fernando Poe Jr. was a San Miguel Beer endorser for many years and her mother Rowena Moran was also in a San Miguel commercial. Moran’s feature in the 1989 commercial led her to be a star in one of Fernando Poe Jr.’s movies since being one of the ladies of San Miguel, as I’ve mentioned, is one of the most coveted status for several decades now.  I believe if you’re born from parents who have good taste then you know this will definitely rub off on you too.

It’s like how you say that if you’re friend’s dad knows how to hold their beer, then you know you’re friend is bound to be able to do just as well. Lovi Poe says she’s really glad to be a part of the Red Horse Beer family.

So yes, she really is a beer drinker and I will tell you more about it in the next post with the other endorsers Francis Brew, Marc Abaya of KJWAN, Kevin Roy and Brian Velasco of Razorback and how much fun it was having her around in the several Radio stations we went to that day.
